RingsFX 1.01

RingsFX is an AUv3 plugin that replicates the renowned Mutable Instruments Rings module, a distinguished and comprehensive Physical Modeling Eurorack module. Central to its design is a resonator that requires 'excitation' or 'strumming' through MIDI input, noise, or external audio.

RingsFX imitates vibrational structures through 3 distinct synthesis techniques - Modal Synthesis, Sympathetic Strings, and Inharmonic Strings. While the original Rings was traditionally monophonic but employed a unique polyphony mechanism that let the preceding note resonate and fade as a new note was triggered. RingsFX retains these modes (Mono, Duo, and Quad) and introduces a genuine Polyphonic mode. Additionally, RingsFX enhances the original engine's capabilities by incorporating velocity sensitivity and MIDI MPE mode.

The new polyphonic mode enables RingsFX to produce up to 12 notes of true polyphony, subject to configuration. However, achieving this requires RingsFX to utilize multiple Rings resonators, thereby necessitating more processing power with increased polyphony. Users may opt for the conventional Monophonic, Duophonic, or Quadrophonic modes to manage CPU consumption effectively.

RingsFX offers 7 modes in total, amalgamating the 3 fundamental modes with extra features like chords or specially tuned reverberations. A distinctive feature from the original hardware, known as the 'Easter Egg' mode, is now referred to as 'Synthesizer' mode in RingsFX, speculated to stem from an early Korg synthesis method. This mode encompasses various mutable effects compatible across all resonator modes.

Moreover, RingsFX incorporates a Mod-Matrix facilitating the seamless blending of integrated LFOs and FEGs for real-time manipulation of parameters and mutable effects.

Moreover, RingsFX functions as an AUv3 effect plugin. Selecting the Exciter Source as 'INPUT' enables users to route any audio through RingsFX and exploit this audio as an external exciter. For instance, it can be effectively applied to a drum beat to craft intricate rhythms. Leveraging the Output Mix allows users to merge the original audio with the synthesised resonator output for captivating effects.
